KendriyaVidyalayaLakhanpur, came into existence on 5th September 1981. The Vidyalaya is situated at a distance of 2 Kms from Lakhanpur on Basoli Road (District Kathua) J & K. The school has its own building and the classes are being run from I to XII, having two streams (Humanities and Science). The building houses, two Computer labs in addition to Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Junior Science lab.
A Model KendriyaVidyalaya at present is heading towards a Smart School infrastructure under the Principalship of Mr. D. R. Patel who has joined as Principal as on 04/03/2015. Vidyalaya acquired its own buildings which is A type building with Eleven units of staff quarters. It is located in a beautiful valley surrounded by lush green forests which is pollution free and eco-friendly. In 2003, When Vidyalaya shifted from Army Brracks to its own building, not even a single playground had been developed. But with the efforts of our worthy principals and staff, we have been able to develop our own Kabaddi, Kho-Kho Pacca Badminton court and volleyball ground. Since the Vidyalaya was located in a hilly terrain lot of filling of earth was required. But with the kind co-operation of Chairman VMC and efforts of staff .
About Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan:
On the recommendation of the 2nd Central Pay Commission in 1962 to provide common education with common syllabus and curriculum to the children of transferable Central government employees including defence personnel, the Ministry of Education, Government of India took over 25 regimental school run by defence establishment and converted into Central schools in 1963. Later on these Central School were rechristened as Kendriya Vidyalaya’s and as on today near about 1000 Kendriya Vidyalaya’s through the breadth and length of our country meet the needs of a common education to the children of transferable Central Government Employees defence and project personnel. This phenomenal growth of KV is due to its popularity and rapid stride in all key areas of present (day education reforms and has come to be recognized as pivotal institutions striving to rise the quality of education at school level. K.V's. have improved their infra-structure facilities and education in all its sphere so much that today no educational organization is there in competition
KendriyaVidyalaya Kathua was started in April 2003 at Kathua, J&K. Since its inception, it has steadily progressed to reach a recognizable position among the Kendriya Vidyalaya's of the Jammu region. Since its inception in 2003 in the civil sector, the school caters to the educational requirements of students from class I to class 10. The school has about 500 students and growing in strength continuously. At present the Vidyalaya is running under the auspices of KendriyaVidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Jammu Region. The school is headed by Mr. Gurnam Singh, an experienced and energetic principal.
